Code of ethics
The choices behind a health platform matter as much as the technology itself. These principles guide how Shiora approaches people, evidence, data, and partnerships.
Principles become credible through accountable decisions, documented review, and a route for concerns. This code does not replace professional, research, or legal obligations.
Dignity and autonomy
Respect each person's right to understandable information, voluntary choices, privacy, and care that does not reduce her to a data point or diagnosis.
Evidence and honesty
Distinguish hypotheses, prototypes, validated capabilities, and clinical evidence. State limitations clearly and do not use certainty as a marketing device.
Fairness and inclusion
Evaluate who is represented in data, who can access the service, where performance differs, and how design choices may create or deepen barriers.
Human responsibility
Automated systems should support accountable people, not obscure who made a consequential decision. Provide appropriate review, escalation, and routes to challenge.
Responsible research
Use appropriate ethics review, consent or other lawful basis, data safeguards, protocol discipline, and honest publication practices for research involving people or sensitive information.
Raising a concern
Ethics concerns can be sent to ethics@shiora.health. Reports should be handled confidentially to the extent possible and without retaliation for a good-faith concern.
