Two friends sharing a reassuring moment in natural daylight

Mind and Mood

Mood has a cycle.

Mental health measured against the hormonal context it moves with.

Mind and Mood is Shiora's dedicated mental-health program. It combines validated self-report measures, daily emotional context, evidence-based self-guided skills, crisis resources and routes to qualified care. Your mood is never read in isolation: relevant cycle, perinatal and menopause context stays beside it, and no score or digital tool replaces clinical judgement.

Validated instrument scope

Three measures. One connected context.

These figures describe the published instruments used by Mind and Mood, not outcomes produced by Shiora.

3validated self-report measures used across mood, anxiety and perinatal context
9items in the PHQ-9 depression severity measure
7items in the GAD-7 anxiety measure
10items in the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale

Published instrument scope, not Shiora outcomes. Sources: PHQ-9 validation, GAD-7 development and validation and EPDS development.

Program architecture

One dedicated pathway. Multiple levels of support.

The program brings measurement, self-guided resources, safety preparation and professional-care connections into one defined pathway, while preserving the clinical boundaries between them.

Mental health support

One dedicated pathway

Connects mood, anxiety, sleep and relevant hormonal context with structured CBT, mindfulness, breathing and journaling resources, crisis-resource access and permission-controlled reports for qualified professionals.

Dedicated pathway

The program in practice

Repeated measures, with the surrounding life left intact.

Mind and Mood makes change easier to discuss while keeping a score in its proper clinical place.

What you see

A private sequence of check-ins, context and selected support.

Validated self-report results appear over time beside sleep, cycle phase and reproductive stage when those connections are permitted. The view distinguishes a measure from a diagnosis, keeps crisis resources easy to reach and lets the member prepare a selected report for a qualified professional.

Measured change

Worked example

Illustrative record: Maya, with simulated information.

Maya completes repeated mood and anxiety measures and records sleep disruption. Her results are not evenly distributed across the month, so Sana displays the timing beside the cycle context already in her record. The view does not claim causation. Maya shares a selected timeline with her therapist, who interprets it alongside history, function, medicines and safety.

Simulated example

What it needs from you

Honest check-ins at the moments you choose to measure.

Repeated PHQ-9, GAD-7 or EPDS responses can show movement more clearly than a single result. Notes about sleep, triggers, function and medication timing can add context. Cycle, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause information is used only when available and permitted.

Member controlled

How it connects

Mental health remains part of the same health story.

Cycles and Pregnancy supplies cycle and perinatal context. Menopause and Midlife supplies menopause-stage context. Intimate Health can preserve pain, intimacy and trauma-related concerns without exposing private detail by default. Prevention and Vitality adds sleep, activity and long-term health context, while Specialist Care can keep the emotional experience of fertility treatment beside the clinical timeline.

One record

Validated measures

A score becomes more useful when its context stays visible.

Mind and Mood uses established self-report measures and sets each result beside cycle phase and reproductive stage.

PHQ-9

Nine items about depressive symptoms.

A validated measure can help quantify symptom burden and change, but a score is not a diagnosis on its own.

Mood

GAD-7

Seven items about anxiety symptoms.

The same structured measure can make change easier to discuss than an isolated description from memory.

Anxiety

EPDS

Ten items developed for postnatal depression screening.

It is used in perinatal care to support screening and severity assessment, with professional follow-up where indicated.

Perinatal

Cycle context

Recorded cycle phase and reproductive stage.

The result sits beside hormonal context already held in the record rather than being viewed against the calendar alone.

Connected

The connected record

Context is preserved without overstating causation.

With permission, Shiora can place repeated measures beside cycle and reproductive-stage information already held in the record. The relationship becomes visible without claiming that one factor caused another.

  • Repeated measures make change visible over time.
  • Cycle phase can reveal a recurring timing pattern without establishing causation.
  • Perinatal and menopause context can remain available to the appropriate professional.
  • Selected reports can support continuity with a therapist or psychiatrist.

Program boundary

Screening supports care. It does not replace it.

PHQ-9, GAD-7 and EPDS are self-report measures. Their results need interpretation alongside history, function, safety, physical health, medicines and clinical judgement.

Mind and Mood is not an emergency or crisis service. If you may harm yourself or someone else, or you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services now.

Pathway questions

Mind and Mood FAQs.

Detailed answers on therapeutic resources, hormonal and perinatal context, professional collaboration and crisis boundaries.

Mental health support

Is Shiora a replacement for therapy?

No. Shiora complements professional mental-health care by supporting daily tracking, self-guided tools and connections to qualified professionals.

How does Shiora handle crisis situations?

Shiora provides access to crisis-resource links, hotline information, emergency contacts and safety-planning tools. It is not an emergency-response service.

Which therapeutic approaches does Shiora use?

The program incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy exercises, mindfulness-based stress reduction, dialectical behavior therapy skills and acceptance and commitment therapy principles.

How does Sana connect mood with hormonal context?

With permission, relevant cycle and menopause information from your other programs can sit alongside mood patterns to provide a fuller view for you and your care professional.

Does Shiora support perinatal mental health?

Yes. The program includes pregnancy-anxiety, postpartum-depression and perinatal-OCD content and can connect with postpartum screening in Cycles and Pregnancy for continued professional support.

Can reports be shared with a therapist?

Yes. Members can create reports showing selected mood, sleep, trigger and progress information and choose whether to share them with a therapist or psychiatrist.

What relapse-prevention tools are available?

Members can record personal warning patterns, set selected check-ins, keep a safety plan accessible and review prior context with their care professional.

How does medication tracking support professional care?

Medication reminders and notes about how you feel around medication timing can support a conversation with a prescriber. Shiora does not prescribe or change medication.

What does Mind and Mood measure?

Mind and Mood uses the PHQ-9, GAD-7 and EPDS to record validated mood and anxiety measures in the same private longitudinal record as cycle phase and reproductive stage.

What is the PHQ-9?

The PHQ-9 is a nine-item self-report measure developed to assess depressive symptom severity. It supports screening and monitoring, but it does not establish a diagnosis by itself.

What is the GAD-7?

The GAD-7 is a seven-item self-report measure developed to assess generalized anxiety symptoms and their severity.

What is the EPDS?

The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale is a ten-item self-report screening measure developed for postnatal depression and used in perinatal care.
